Zirconium oxide has the best material properties of all ceramics and is already used in a wide range of applications, in both the medical and non-medical fields. Because of its exceptional hardness it can even be used to make knife blades, for example.
Thanks to modern CAD/CAM systems, zirconium oxide frameworks can now be produced with a superb fit and at an economically acceptable price. For the first time, an all-ceramic framework material is available that will in all probability replace the traditional porcelain fused to metal technique for many indications.
The CAD/CAM technique now makes it possible to produce precision-fitting frameworks both for single crowns and for dental bridges of any type and with any number of units.
